Overview: The Centre for Micro Finance (CMF) at the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR), Chennai, India invites applications for a workshop on “Activity Based Costing and Management for MFIs.” The workshop will be held at the IFMR campus, Chennai, and is scheduled for Friday, May 29th 2009.
The Workshop:
Though the Indian microfinance sector has succeeded with commendable growth rates, there is a recognized need to update systems and policies at institutional levels to manage business affairs in sustainable manner. The Workshop on ‘Activity Based Costing and Management’ is an initiative in this regard and aims to address skill requirements for the costing and management of MFIs. The workshop is targeted at senior management and finance personnel of MFIs. Broadly the workshop will include:
- Introducing the concept of Activity Based Costing (ABC)
- Contextualizing the ABC tool to MF operations
- Case study and simulated group exercises
The course will be directed by Professor G. Balasubramanian, Programme Director, IFMR

Registration Fees
Centre charges a nominal registration fees of Rs. 1500/- (rupees fifteen hundred only) per participant that includes tuition fee, course material and food. Participants will bear their own travel and accommodation cost. CMF can arrange a concessionary rate at a local Hotel.
