Dr. Pingali completed his PhD in economics from Northwestern University with specialization in industrial organization and strategy in June 2007. He is also a senior researcher at the Center for Development Finance. Prior to joining IFMR, Dr. Pingali worked as an economic consultant at a litigation consulting firm in Boston, and as an economist in the product strategy department of Biologics Development Center of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Hyderabad. He currently teaches courses in regulatory economics, financial econometrics and consumer behavior.
His research interests primarily include empirical industrial organization and applied econometrics. He is particularly interested in modeling competitive behavior of firms. Some of his work on electricity markets has appeared in the International Journal of Industrial Organization.
