Mr. Parth Parikh, FRM, Finance Consultant , Finshiksha addressed the first year students on the various career opportunities available in BFSI. He shared deep insights on the various career prospects and avenues present in the field of banking and finance. He discussed about the various skill sets and growth opportunities in every distinct finance field. The finale saw a question and answer session in which every question was answered with in-depth explanation.
Flea market comes from the French word marché aux puces, a name originally given to a market in Paris. TEC (The Entrepreneurship Club) of IFMR organised a one day flea market on 26th July 2018 . The students from both the batches displayed various stalls comprising of games, food stalls, and entertainment stalls show casing their entrepreneurial traits.
IFMR Faculty members Prof Jyoti Prasad Mukhopadhyay and Prof Praveen Bhagwan have won the 2nd prize for the Best Research Paper (Title: Does Mandatory Expenditure on CSR Affect Firm Value? Empirical Evidence from Indian Firms) in Corporate Finance track during the 3rd International Conference on Financial Markets and Corporate Finance -ICFMCF 2018 held at IIT Kanpur. This prestigious conference is jointly organized every year by six IITs together: IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur and IIT Roorkee and this year IIT Kanpur hosted it. 74 peer reviewed papers were presented at the conference this year. IFMR saw a new energetic batch of 2018-2020 taking over the position of representatives for various clubs and committees. The formal function was presided over by Dr. Kamal Ghosh Ray, Resident Director, IFMR B School, Dr. Vinodh Madhavan, PGP Chairperson and our eminent faculties. To start with, the president of student council took his oath followed by the secretary from the junior batch, the treasurer and finally the CEO. The sports committee of IFMR conducted the first sporting event FUTSAL 2018 on 9th and 10th of July. FUTSAL is a short timed , fast paced and a 5 men+ 3 women membered team playing football. It’s a tradition in IFMR to conduct the knockout every year. The game saw 7 teams participating with the blend of juniors and seniors. The finale was a clash between the senior team "All stars" and the junior team "Falcons" with the senior team lifting the trophy.
It was a journey back to the ethos as the essence of Yoga was explored to the fullest on International Day of Yoga 21st June 2018 at the IFMR Sri City campus. As budding managers and future corporate leaders, the MBA students of IFMR showed dedicated interest while learning the need and importance of yoga. July 7th 2018, Data Science Certificate Program : The second batch of IFMR’s Data Science Certification Programme shall be inaugurated by Mr. Pradeep G, COO & Co-Founder of Tiger Analytics on 7th July 2018, at 10.30 am in the Nungambakkam campus at Chennai. It’s a 10 - Months weekend programme for working professionals who are interested in learning data analytics and executives with aptitude for data analytics.
