Inauguration of 19th batch of MBA Programme at IFMR, Sricity
Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR), (Part Of KREA University), inaugurated its 19th batch of full-time MBA programme at H C Kothari Hall in the campus on 4th June 2018. The new batch comprises of students from 22 states all over the country, coming from different disciplines which includes engineering, arts and science.
The induction program for new students started with the inaugural ceremony and it is aimed at orienting the students towards self-introspection, self-discovery and mindfulness.
The inauguration programme commenced with the welcome address by Prof Kamal Ghosh Ray, Acting Resident Director, IFMR B-School. In his Welcome address, Dr Ghoshray emphasized that management education is something different from the conventional tutelage and it needs learning in real life setting and also learning beyond teaching. Dr Ghoshray added that in the current era of Artificial Intelligence, Internet of things and Virtual Reality, every day some thing or the other is evolving and the scope for learning for the student is ever increasing and is also putting them in challenging situations.
Dr Sunder Ramaswamy, Vice Chancellor, KREA University addressed the incoming students and stressed the significance of students preparing themselves for a career, keeping-in-view of the social responsibility to give back to the world and the planet. Further, he stressed that this process of preparing oneself for one’s career is an iterative exercise that calls for students to learn many things, unlearn certain things, and to learn to learn on an ongoing basis.
Mr T A Varghese, Global Business HR Head, Tata Consultancy Services, who was the Guest of Honour, insisted in his address on the need for students to have a clear understanding of the fundamentals for that will goad them as they progress in their career. Further Mr. Varghese had the following words of wisdom for students. “Take extra efforts to understand management subjects as a philosophy. You cannot do everything on your own. So, you have to be a good team player, as life is becoming more collaborative. MBA platform is a good place to learn collaboration”.
Mr Vikas Gupta, Managing Director, Talent, Deloitte Consulting India Pvt. Ltd graced the occasion as the Chief Guest . Mr. Gupta highlighted the importance of not losing out on research as an institution. Further, he stressed that MBA is just the beginning of a life long journey of learning. He also touched-upon the need for students to be consistently curious and mindful of themselves and the opportunities that are out there, so as to explore avenues throughout their life. He also stressed the need for learning to meet the challenges posed by industrial revolution 4.0.
The inauguration program concluded with the vote of thanks given by Dr. Vinodh Madhavan, Chairperson- PGP, IFMR B-School.
