Current batch students of IFMR and members of IFMR fraternity were delighted to have our Alumni Mr. Nakul Verma on 22nd September, 2018. He delivered an interesting and interactive session on Valuation of Young Growth Companies. He also addressed students' queries on business valuation and future career prospects in the financial sector. Mr. Nakul is an alumnus of Batch 14. Currently, he works as an Analyst at McKinsey & Company. He has previously worked with GENPACT as a Business Analyst and CRISIL as a Credit Analyst.
Mr. Parth Parikh, FRM, Finance Consultant , Finshiksha addressed the first year students on the various career opportunities available in BFSI. He shared deep insights on the various career prospects and avenues present in the field of banking and finance. He discussed about the various skill sets and growth opportunities in every distinct finance field. The finale saw a question and answer session in which every question was answered with in-depth explanation.
Flea market comes from the French word marché aux puces, a name originally given to a market in Paris. TEC (The Entrepreneurship Club) of IFMR organised a one day flea market on 26th July 2018 . The students from both the batches displayed various stalls comprising of games, food stalls, and entertainment stalls show casing their entrepreneurial traits.
IFMR Faculty members Prof Jyoti Prasad Mukhopadhyay and Prof Praveen Bhagwan have won the 2nd prize for the Best Research Paper (Title: Does Mandatory Expenditure on CSR Affect Firm Value? Empirical Evidence from Indian Firms) in Corporate Finance track during the 3rd International Conference on Financial Markets and Corporate Finance -ICFMCF 2018 held at IIT Kanpur. This prestigious conference is jointly organized every year by six IITs together: IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur and IIT Roorkee and this year IIT Kanpur hosted it. 74 peer reviewed papers were presented at the conference this year. IFMR saw a new energetic batch of 2018-2020 taking over the position of representatives for various clubs and committees. The formal function was presided over by Dr. Kamal Ghosh Ray, Resident Director, IFMR B School, Dr. Vinodh Madhavan, PGP Chairperson and our eminent faculties. To start with, the president of student council took his oath followed by the secretary from the junior batch, the treasurer and finally the CEO. The sports committee of IFMR conducted the first sporting event FUTSAL 2018 on 9th and 10th of July. FUTSAL is a short timed , fast paced and a 5 men+ 3 women membered team playing football. It’s a tradition in IFMR to conduct the knockout every year. The game saw 7 teams participating with the blend of juniors and seniors. The finale was a clash between the senior team "All stars" and the junior team "Falcons" with the senior team lifting the trophy.
It was a journey back to the ethos as the essence of Yoga was explored to the fullest on International Day of Yoga 21st June 2018 at the IFMR Sri City campus. As budding managers and future corporate leaders, the MBA students of IFMR showed dedicated interest while learning the need and importance of yoga. Ms Meril, one of the first year students of IFMR who has been practicing yoga for the past six years demonstrated and trained her peers. Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR), (Part Of KREA University), inaugurated its 19th batch of full-time MBA programme at H C Kothari Hall in the campus on 4th June 2018. The new batch comprises of students from 22 states all over the country, coming from different disciplines which includes engineering, arts and science. The induction program for new students started with the inaugural ceremony and it is aimed at orienting the students towards self-introspection, self-discovery and mindfulness. IFMR is proud to have partnered up with one of the Big 4 accounting firms in the world,KPMG, to organise a workshop on Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Training, which is considered as one of the most effective management methodologies to eliminate defects in any process. The workshop is a 32 hours program held on 24th, 25th February and 3rd, 4th March 2018. The trainer for the program, Mr.Anirudha Chakravarty, Associate Director at KPMG, India, has close to 16 years of experience in the field of training and has trained over 1000 Green Belts and 150 Black Belts on Lean
